Chairman of Rayleigh Town Council - Councillor Mrs June Lumley

"It is a great honour to be Chairman of Rayleigh Town Council.
I was elected as a Councillor on the first Town Council in 1996 and have been Chairman of various committees since then. It has been a pleasure to serve residents in Rayleigh for almost 23 years during which time there have been many changes.
I was born and grew up in Wickford, always aspiring to one day live in Rayleigh. I moved here with my husband Chris in 1967. Our 3 daughters attended Glebe and then Sweyne Schools. 3 of our grandchildren live in Rayleigh and 2 in Australia.
Since 2002 I have been a Member of Rochford District Council and am very proud to have served as Chairman in the District in 2014-2015, following that as Portfolio Holder for Community & Housing Services for 3 years.
In 2018 I was elected as the Member for Rayleigh South Division on Essex County Council serving on the Health & Social Care and People & Families scrutiny committees also currently Vice Chairman of the Local Highways Panel.
Serving on all 3 Councils gives me access to information, contacts and a greater understanding of local government which is beneficial to local residents.
For many years I have been involved in the voluntary sector as a volunteer trustee of 3 local charities and governor of a Rayleigh primary school.
I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible during my year of office".
