Rayleigh Town Council Chairman, Councillor Robert Milne

I have had a 40-year career with the Metropolitan Police working as a senior manager in Metropolitan Police Forensic Services, developing new equipment, sequential treatment laboratories plus the creation and management of the Met’s Forensic Intelligence project. Since retiring from the Metropolitan Police in 2008, I have worked in forensic science as a practitioner in the private sector and in higher education. In 2012 I published the textbook ‘Forensic Intelligence’ CRC Press. In 2016, I was elected to Rochford District Council and Rayleigh Town Council serving the residents of Lodge Ward.

I have worked on a number of Rochford District Council’s (RDC) committees working in the Development, Audit, Review, Licensing and Standards committees. In addition, I worked on the Carbon Neutral group. I was a member of the Rochford CCTV research group and represented Rayleigh Town Council in the Rochford and Castle Point Community Safety Partnership, working with community policing, social services, Crime Watch, Crime Stoppers, Speed watch and the local authorities to deliver a safer environment for our residents. I also chaired the Rayleigh Town Council Community Safety Group.  With regard to crime and disorder, I fully support the funding of Essex County Council Youth Services and organisations such as Bar n Bus who engage with youth in Rayleigh Town providing useful services to young people.

I am a keen supporter of the programmes the Town Council maintains to keep the Town an extremely pleasant, award winning town. I look forward to working in the High Street with the Rayleigh in Bloom team, physically weeding and cleaning up the flower beds. Also taking pride in hands on support for events such as the Trinity Fair and the Christmas Lights switch on event. Rayleigh Town Council has won so many awards and the beautiful environment with the town in bloom attracts shoppers and businesses. In my role as Chairman of Rayleigh Town Council I welcome engagements with residents on local issues and look forward to working to further enhance Rayleigh Town and Rochford District.
